Our vacation ran from July 16 to July 30, 2005. We drove 3,524 miles through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. We burned a little over 175 gallons of gas at an average price of $2.33 a gallon (which seemed REALLY expensive at the time).

We saw the majestic red rocks of Sedona, Arizona, and the beautiful, cool, blue Pacific Ocean in San Diego, California. We even saw 60,000 year old animal bones that had been recovered from the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Plus we got to celebrate Johnny's 7th birthday with his cousins in El Paso.

But, most importantly, we got to spend three days visiting Disneyland -- which truly is the "happiest place on Earth". Of course, after looking at our final budget figures, it's also apparently one of the most expensive places on Earth. But it was worth every cent!!!

To make it even more special, it was the 50th anniversary of Disneyland!
